A program of “Vadodara International Half Marathon – 2016” was organized on Sunday, the 7th Feb 2016 as a part of “Khel Mahakumbh”, the Gujarat State’s biggest event of sports creating an atmosphere of sports and sportsmanship in fast progressing Gujarat in which, more than 40,000 youths had participated in Marathon Run of different categories. In the flag off ceremony, arranged in the presence of Smt. Anandiben Patel, the C.M. of Gujarat State, along with different political leaders and the representatives of various social service institutions, on behalf of Yogi Divine Society, saint leader P. Shashtriswami, P. Guruprasadswami, P. Suchetanswami and Shri J.M. Dave also remained present to cheer and encourage the sportsmen.

Before the soft, mild and warm rays of Sun could reach/touch the earth, a very big crowd of people had already gathered on the Navlakhi Ground of Vadodara where, at 6.45 am, the C.M. Anandiben Patel had addressed the sportsmen from her wide stage and had increased their spirit, enthusiasm and tempo. She had explained in short the various aims/objectives behind arranging this marathon and had asked them to spread the same in each & every house in Vadodara.

Then, when the runners were flagged off by the C.M. along with leading politicians in one group and by the representatives of various institutions in the another group, it looked as if a triangular union of politics, religion and people was created. Along with the representatives of different institutions in the flag off ceremony, on behalf of Yogi Divine Society, the saint leader P. Shashtriswami and P. Guruprasadswami also had joined and had signaled for the runners to go.

In this program of Marathon Run of 15 km marathon, 21.1 km relay run and 21.1 km half marathon there were 3 different additional divisions also in categories like Torch Bearer Walk (to spread the message of composure for all religions and communal unity), Divyang Run (even the handicaps are also sometimes possessing special/unique/extraordinary specialities, to develop and to increase the feelings of sympathy for them in the society) Cleanliness Run (to spread the spirit of cleanliness in the general public to support the campaign of Clean India) in which, along with the spiritual leaders of other religions in the Torch Bearer Walk, carrying the spirit of composure of all religions, the saint leaders of Yogi Divine Society P. Shashtriswami, P. Guruprasadswami and P. Suchetanswami also had participated and marched with torch in their hands to spread the message of communal harmony in the society.

On the occasion of organizing this run along with spreading the message of cleanliness in the society, along with the C.M. of Gujarat Smt. Anandiben Patel, many other political leaders like Shri Saurabhbhai Patel, Shri Yogeshbhai Patel, Shri Bhupendrabhai Lakhawala, Shri N.V. Patel, Smt. Jigishaben Sheth, Shri Chandrakant Shrivastava, Smt. Ranjanben Bhatt, Shri Bharatbhai Danger, Shri Jitendrabhai Sukhadiya, Shri Rajendrabhai Trivedi and Smt. Manishaben Vaki also were present. Similarly, as the representatives of various institutions, along with representatives of Yogi Divine Society, P. Jashbhai Saheb (Anupam Mission), P. Dwarkeshlalji (Vaishnavacharya), P. Vrajeshkumarji (Vishnavacharya), Shri M. (the runner), P. Nityanandswami (ISKON) etc. had remained present. And, along with the renowned business adventurous Shri Pareshbhai Shah (Sujal) and Shri Pareshbhai Parikh and other well-known leaders, the cricketers like Shri Yusuf Pathan, Shri Irfan Pathan and Shri Hardik Pandya who have glorified the name of Vadodara City at the international level also remained present there in the flag off ceremony to encourage the competitors. All the representatives of different institutions present there were honored by presenting a shawl to them on this occasion.

At the end of the competition, all the winners in different categories were honored by giving them the suitable presents. The chair-person of the half marathon, Tejalben Amin and all the other organizers who joined her in the arrangements of this campaign had worked very hard day and night to make this event a great success.
